BTEC provides students with a vocational pathway. They are nationally recognised qualifications, designed to provide students with skills, knowledge and understanding in specific career based subjects.
Students are given the opportunity of following:- a one-year BTEC First Diploma Course and then either seeking employment or progressing onto an Advanced Vocational or A/S Courses providing a Merit was achieved at Intermediate Level or moving to a BTEC National Course.

Art and Design

Hospitality & Catering
BTEC courses involve one or two years of study and are taught for 15 hours a week. The course allows students to study various aspects of the chosen vocational subject whilst undertaking practical and written assignments. Students sit external examinations in two of the courses modules.
Entry Requirements
BTEC courses require a fair degree of success at GCSE with mainly D/E grades and above. Students with grades below this may be selected for Foundation Level, depending on the course chosen.
Other Facts
On successfully completing the course, students are awarded a pass, merit or distinction.
BTEC First Diploma provides students with the opportunity to progress onto BTEC National or A/S courses.
All students have the opportunity to achieve a Key Skills Award.
GCSE English Language and Mathematics are studied by students who have not achieved a grade C, but who have the potential to improve their grade.
Vocational Work Experience is offered to all students.
