Currently the largest industry in the UK and one of the world’s largest employers, the Travel and Tourism industry affords many career opportunities for motivated young people.

 

This course combines aspects of vocational courses (including work experience and educational visits) with theoretical study of the tourism industry.

 You will have the opportunity to develop

 • Broad skills, knowledge and understanding of the travel and tourism industry

• An interest in travel and tourism, the issues affecting the development of the industry and its potential effect on employment opportunities

• An understanding of the scale and importance of the travel and tourism industry.

• Appreciation of the importance of the customer to the travel and tourism industry

Assessment  

Two of the units are externally assessed (examination), the other four are portfolio based internal assessments.

Entry Requirements

5 GCSE at C or above

Progression

This qualification supports progression into higher education and training for employment. Many courses, for example in Business and Management, can be combined with the study of tourism. Many employment opportunities exist in this sector, including but not limited to Travel Agent, Tour Operator, Airline crew, Hotel manager, Holiday Rep and Tourist Information Officer.
