BTEC Heath and Social Care Level 2 (1 Year) @ SRS

It is important that you should have a lively and enquiring mind, an interest in Health and Social Care, a willingness to explore new ideas and an ability to communicate new ideas effectively.

It is not a requirement that you should have studied Health and Social Care before taking this course.

Course Structure

You will:

  • Gain a broad understanding of health, social care and be able to study selected areas in depth.
  • Develop skills, knowledge and understanding in health and social care.
  • Have an opportunity to apply learning in a practical and realistic way.
  • Follow a programme of study that enables progression to a variety of courses.
  • Develop key skills that are highly valued by employers and further education.
  • Gain confidence by developing independent learning skills.

This course will apply to students who:

  • Have a keen interest in health and social care.
  • Enjoying studying that is relevant to their own lives and experience.
  • Want to find out more about health and social care through personal investigation.
  • Are interested in developing an understanding of caring organisations and the clients they serve.
  • Wish to move onto a related career of further education.

BTEC First Diploma in Health and Social Care @ DP

Are you thinking of a career in Social Work, Child Care, Nursing or any other care based career?

If the answer to this question is yes then The BTEC First Diploma in Health and Social Care could be the course for you.

What does the course include?

You will study six units.

Two compulsory

  • Communication and Individual Rights within the Health and Social Care Sectors.
  • Individual Needs within the health and Social Care Sectors

Four Specialist Units

  • Vocational Experience in a Health and Social Care Setting.
  • The Impact of Diet on Health
  • Cultural Diversity in Health and Social Care
  • Health and Social Care Services.

Included in the course is four weeks vocational experience where you will have the opportunity to work in two different areas within the caring environment.

You will have the opportunity to develop

  • Knowledge of work in a health and social care environment.
  • The personal skills needed to be successful in health and social care
  • The skills necessary to care for different client groups.

 

Progression Opportunities

The BTEC First Diploma provides a good foundation for a variety of care based careers or entry into college for further care based studies.
