Business Studies Level 2 (BTEC First Diploma) @ JRCS

Outline of the course

Students will obtain an insight into a wide range of business related activities.  This is a Vocational course so students will learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands.  This qualification addresses many of the current issues facing the world of business at the present time.  These include marketing, personnel, customer relations, finance, communication and administration.

The aim of the course is to provide students with the experience, knowledge and confidence to access Level 3 courses or to enter employment with a solid understanding of business.

Skills you will develop include:

  • Reading, scanning and writing at a high level

  • Thinking and analysis skills

  • Independent study and research that will focus into a specific question that needs to be answered.

  • Interpreting evidence and reaching substantiated evidence.

  • The skills and techniques that you have practiced in earlier years will provide a good basis upon which this course can build. 

Assessment

This course is 100% assignment based, there are no external examinations.  Six assignment must be completed over one year, a selection of which are sent off to be moderated by the Exam Board. 

This course is equivalent to 4 A – C grades at GCSE

Careers and further study

This course provides students with a broad insight into how organisations operate.  Students can then decide to stay in education and build upon this insight by selecting a Level 3 course, or enter employment.  Both routes are directly possible due to the Vocational nature of this course.  In addition to this interpersonal skills will also be developed such as communication, teamwork and time management.
