Art National Diploma @ SRS

OCR National Level 3

This qualification has 18 units and is equivalent to 3 A' Levels. It is delivered as a full time course and will be the only course that a student follows.

If you are interested in a career in Art and Design, this course will enable you to produce a portfolio of work that is required when applying for a degree course at Art College.

Certificate in Art and Design

You will gain the equivalent of 1 A' Level if you only complete the first four mandatory units plus 2 optional units.

Diploma in Art and Design

You will gain the equivalent of 2 A' Levels if you complete the first four mandatory units plus 8 optional units.

Extended Diploma in Art and Design

To gain the full qualifications of 3 A' Levels, you must complete the first four mandatory units plus 14 optional units.

Mandatory Units:

Unit 1 - Planning, researching and developing ideas for a specialist brief

Unit 2 - Materials, techniques and processes

Unit 3 - Realising an outcome to a specialist brief

Unit 4 - Presenting, displaying, promoting and selling work

The course will be taught over 15 hours per week and will be delivered by more than one specialist Art and Design teacher. The course is 100% coursework and will cover a wide range of media and techniques, including drawing, painting, Art history, textiles, fashion, ceramics, photography, silk-screen printing and sculpture. Students will need to spend additional time in the school week within the Art department, working independently to complete their assigned projects to schedule.
